- Pin Size is determined by the longest dimension either horizontal or vertical (not diagonal).
- The first six (6) colors are included in the pin price. Additional colors are three cents ($o.o3) extra per color per pin.

SOFT ENAMEL PINS
Soft enamel pins are best suited for detailed and intricate designs as the base metal lines dividing the enamel can be very thin. The range of colors that can be used in the soft enamel process are virtually unlimited.
A die of your design is made and is then struck into copper, brass or zinc alloy metal. The die imprints your design into the surface of the metal causing raised areas. Then enamel colors are inserted by hand using a syringe into the recessed areas of the metal. After the color is added, the pins are baked at 350 degrees to cure the enamel. The raised surface is polished to a mirror-like shine. A clear epoxy coating can be added to help protect the pin.

HARD ENAMEL PINS
Hard enamel pins are best suited for simple designs, as the base metal lines dividing the enamel are wider.
Hard enamel pins are also known as Cloissone or Epola. A die is made with your design and then stamped into a sheet of copper metal creating a raised outline of the design. Then colored glass that is crushed to a powder is mixed with water and is used to fill in the recessed areas of the pin. Each color is filled in separately. When all of the recessed areas are filled, the pins are baked at 1600 degrees, causing the colors to melt and fill in all of the spaces. After the pins have been baked, they are set out to cool. Then they are polished to a smooth finish. Finally they are plated with a gold, silver or black anodized finish.

DIE STRUCK PINS
Die struck pins do not use any enamel colors and they have an embossed look. Die struck pins are best suited for awards, corporate logos, anniversary pins, etc.
A die is made of your design and is struck into either copper, brass, or iron metal. All of the recessed metal in the background is sand-blasted to give some contrast. The raised surface of the pin is then polished while the background remains textured.
