How do I iron on my patches?

Home / FAQ / How do I iron on my patches?

Iron on patches are also referred to as heat seal patches.

Follow the steps below to iron or your patch.  Please note-only patches that are made with a heat seal on them can be ironed on to another item.

Items You Will Need:

Iron

Ironing Board

Your custom iron-on patch

Clean Washcloth

Step 1: Make sure that the material that you are applying the patch to is washed, cleaned and dry. Make sure the material is wrinkle-free because the patch may not adhere properly or might gather the material when the patch is applied.

Step 2: Make sure your iron is set to the correct settings to match the type of material. For example, if your material is cotton make sure the iron is set to cotton because you don’t want to burn or damage the material.

Step 3: Iron the area where you want your embroidered patch to be for about 10 seconds.

Step 4: Place the custom patch on the heated area and then cover the insignia with a washcloth. Move the iron over the washcloth in a slow circular motion for about 90 seconds.

Step 5: Lift the washcloth to make sure that the patch is being applied correctly. If the patch is applying correctly you can proceed to Step 6. If the patch is not adhering to the material you will need to start over again with a new patch.

Step 6: Turn the clothing inside out and iron the emblem again for about 30 seconds. Make sure to move the iron in a slow circular motion.

Step 7: Remove washcloth and let the material cool. Give your material and your new patch the “movement test” and make sure your patch can withstand regular movements.
